Portsmouth has an upcoming election (Thursday Nov 7). Some positions Selectman, Clerk are partisan while many others are non-partisan.

Non-Partisan Offices

The following Non-Partisan Offices will be filled by the Municipal Election on November 7, 2023:

• City Council (9 positions)
• School Board (4 positions)
• Fire Commission (1 position)
• Police Commission (1 position)

If you want to run for office, you have to declare your intent to appear on the ballot. The window for declaring opens August 28 2023 and closes Sept 12.
